Tipi Pictures! A Tribue With Pictures Of My Tipi
The tipi! Wowwee! Where do I start? Let's just say I am so grateful to have had this tipi. It was one of those "life things" that has made my life much richer.
It all started in 1999, when after doing some significant personal work in my life,
I realized one of my dreams was to own a tipi ... A
place to sleep in, a place to have gatherings with friends and a
place to veg out and relax with a campfire inside of it.
At first, I had literally no idea what to do or how to make a tipi, being the very unmechanical guy that I am.
Then I found a Native American guy in Nebraska who sold tipis for a living, and
he actually helped with designing and constructing the tipis
for the movie, Dances With Wolves. I
spent the money and within weeks had all of the materials
(including the canvases and 22 foot tall poles) at my apartment front door.
What glorious days those first weeks and months were of having that tipi!
It is true I gave away my beloved tipi in early 2004,
but I have total peace about it. For much of late 2002 and 2003, I did not use the tipi much and felt
it was time to give it away. I was neglecting my tipi and I had moved on emotionally and spiritually from "my tipi era".
Also, throughout the years, I had maintained the tipi in other people's backyards, and I felt increasingly bad that
I was "squatting" the tipi in my friends' backyards. Thus, I did my best to quickly give it away,
and an eager couple in the mountains picked it up and had great plans to restore it. It feels good knowing
the tipi is being appreciated and is in the care of loving hands today!
Below are some pictures from some of the tipi gatherings I had from 2000 to 2002. Enjoy them! -Steve :)

I would frequently recline and loved looking up at the spiral look of the tipi poles. :) |

My friend Sherri Auld held a piece of wood that is shaped like a spoon,
and it broke off naturally from a block of wood. And look at that yummy smore! :) |

Mike and the Wolfer family dog seemed to hit it off. :) |

Mick and Shaina Wolfer enjoyed the tipi and lot. We played cards one night. |

The campfire kept us warm on a rainy spring night. It was actually snowing pretty hard at the end of the party, but we didn't know it because the campfire inside kept us really warm. |

I love this shot of Shelby and I goofing off. |

Dan and Nadine Peterson drove down from Littleton to partake in the tipi festivies. They brought lots of snacks too, including soda, chips & dip, grapes and peanuts! :) |

From the photo, it looks like he's smoking something, doesn't it? ;) |
